…says Ramjattan did not demonstrate leadership skills Former Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance for Change, Wholesale Jerseys China, Peter Ramsaroop, has cancelled his membership with the party. This was confirmed by party Chairman, Khemraj Ramjattan, who yesterday, during a press briefing, said that Ramsaroop was no longer an official member of the party.Peter RamsaroopHe said that Ramsaroop asked to have his membership with the party cancelled.Party Leader Raphael Trotman was also forced to explain to media operatives that Ramsaroop was not forced by the party in no way to resign. The information of the resignation of Ramsaroop as party CEO was effected some time before but only surfaced with allegations of Nicole Ming that he had planted cameras in her apartment and was spying on her.A police investigation was launched but to date the police have not managed to find any incriminating evidence against Ramsaroop. This newspaper learnt that Ramsaroop will be seeking to campaign under what he calls a broad alliance under ‘Vision Guyana.’When asked yesterday if the AFC would forge an alliance with Ramsaroop, Ramjattan said that as long as his vision fits the criteria of what the AFC was looking for then they would work with him.Ramsaroop, when contacted for a comment said that the reason he cancelled the membership with the AFC was because “they do not support a United Opposition which MUST include the PNC.”He said that Ramjattan’s statement that he will never work with the PNC is a slap in the face of good people of the party.“We must forge a united opposition that puts the dictatorship PPP government out, nothing less will do…The AFC on its own cannot win an election…I will work again with the AFC when we all sit at the table, including the PNC, and determine a way forward along with Civil Society.”He said that the AFC must learn to have a vision of power in order to attain the ability to do the things they want.“Working for a few seats in Parliament is not my idea of changing Guyana since the Constitution allows for the winner take all system.”Ramsaroop also said that he does not feel that Ramjattan displays the leadership skills needed to be the Presidential Candidate and the rejection by the masses over the years puts the AFC now in a catch up position since the nomination has been announced.Ramsaroop has been involved in politics in Guyana since the late 1990s. –  Land Registry to occupyGovernment has signaled its intention to relocate the Land Registry, situated on the ground floor of the High Court building, to the former New Building Society (NBS) Head Office, Avenue of Republic, which it acquired.Claiming to be unaware of the actual cost paid to the New Building Society for the facility, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, said that the Land Registry provided the cost of theThe Land Registry is to move to the former NBS Head Office on Avenue of the RepublicSales Agreement, which is more than $100M.He made that announcement yesterday at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing held at the Office of the President. The need for full utilization of resources and better functioning were cited as the main reasons for the removal of the Land Registry from its current location, which it shares with the Deeds Registry.According to Dr. Luncheon, in October 2012, Cabinet commissioned an audit of the Land Registry and a comprehensive report was submitted earlier this month. He added that Cabinet endorsed the findings and disclosures of the audit conducted by an Attorney.Dr. Luncheon enlightened that Cabinet approved the preparation of an implementation camp and the establishment of a unit to see the realization of recommendations in the report. The audit found the Land Registry to be under-resourced and there was weakness in its functioning, particularly in process management, Nike Air Max 2018, which has a great deal to do with transactions. Several recommendations were made, of which Dr. Luncheon shared three with the media. The intent to relocate the Land Registry is the move towards satisfying one of the recommendations. Funds available through the Competitive Programme will be used to enhance the facility to offer better services, he added. The report also recommends the implementation of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) applications – essentially e-government, websites, and electronic communication – to the functioning of the Land Registry.Dr. Luncheon related that the Land Registry did not benefit from ICT application upgrades when the Deeds Registry was upgraded, because the two entities got separated. It is hoped that with this upgrade there will be preservation of records, communication with users of the entity, and access, storage and retrieval of land titles. To bring the operations and functioning of the Land Registry to the level of contemporary norms, legislative reform would need to occur.“I think Cabinet is not unmindful of what has and is taking place with the reforms with the Deed and Commercial Registry and saw some parallels that could develop with regards to the land registry, ” he added.

It will provide the platform on which young journalists can learn their profession… I would like to pledge hard money, in support of the Guyana Press Association in 2016. Once the GPA is prepared to mount these seminars at least once per quarter, the State will help without any intervening in the actual programme or doctrine, ” President Granger told the media operatives present. He added that he does not intend to head an administration that is not open to criticism.  “You write the truth and help the Government to improve its performance.  I won’t like to be the Head of a Government, which is not subject to criticism… we want to know the truth and we will correct our performance, ” the President said.President David Granger (RIGHT) engages Kaieteur News Editor- in-Chief Adam Harris (LEFT) in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge and Director of Communications Mark Archer.Reminiscing on his years as a Journalist, President Granger said that it is important that persons in any field be trained and that they abide by certain ethical standards. You have to go out and find out what the truth is… so when you write, you don’t write based on surmise or conjecture. You write what you are prepared to defend and people have to be trained to write the truth, ” he said.Outlining his hopes for this year, the President expressed the wish for a stronger relationship to be built between his government and the media.  “I hope that the relationship between the state and the media will be further developed based on mutual respect, ” he said. The Media Brunch was for years regarded as a tradition by past Presidents.  However, for a number of years the event had not been held.  President Granger has committed to hosting the event at least at the beginning of every year. The event was also attended by several Ministers of Government including Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo; Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan; Minister of State, Joseph Harmon; Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Basil Williams; Minister of Social Protection, Volda Lawrence; Minister for Public Telecommunications, NFL Jerseys From China, Catherine Hughes; Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin; Minister of Citizenship Winston Felix and Minister of Indigenous Affairs, Sydney Allicock.

Eleven months into his Presidency, David Granger, returned to the Anna Regina car park Friday evening where he addressed Essequibians and reminded them that for as long as he remains President, there will be a three-year continuation of the standard operations where Local Government Elections will be held.President Granger reminded that likewise there will be an end to the Interim Management Committee and his coalition government will support the Municipalities to transform the town of Anna Regina into a green, cheap jerseys, clean Region.“There will no longer be anymore IMCs”.The President said that he is not at war with the Region but admonished that if the Region needs the government to work for it the people would have to work along with central government. Granger explained that the IMCs have not and cannot solve social ills or repair infrastructure deficiencies in our communities.Never again will we (Guyana) run a council with IMCs but rather, Councils and Municipalities will be run with elected Councillors. Granger said that is what the legislature is about. He reminded Essequibians that they deserve to decide how the beautiful township of Anna Regina is developed. The Region is unique and his government was able to restore power back into the hands of residents to choose their own electives.”If they don’t perform you have three years to remove them; we believe in the constitution.”Granger said that Essequibians need to win the Local Government Elections but in order for his coalition government to secure consistent wins, voters need not to be complacent and cruise through.Instead they should mobilize and educate especially the younger voters about the voting process of Local Government Elections. Communication and lending support to each other were other principles that Granger advised voters to do.Granger insists that shared governance is important for Guyana’s sustainability and growth. He added that the Local Government Elections are a complicated factor. He cited the tremendous inequalities that are present.“The gap between the rich and poor can be bridged if the poor is intent on enriching themselves through education and entrepreneurship. Try to promote equalities in your communities.”Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan, told Essequibians that his coalition government was the one who lobbied in parliament and fought to amend a Bill to have Local Government Elections restored after nearly 20 long years.Bulkan said while Local Government Elections come at a huge price, his government’s philosophy is about decentralization and empowerment. A total of $1.3B was expended to host Local Government Elections.Bulkan said the PPP had no interest in these elections because that party had placed undermining organs so as to starve the authenticity of elected Councillors to the extent that they resorted to handpicking them.Councillors representing all of the constituencies in Region Two were acknowledged during the meeting with the President.Among those accompanying President Granger were Minister of Social Cohesion, Amna Ally, Minister of Infrastructure David Patterson and Minister of Social Protection, Volda Lawrence. Member of Parliament, Hemraj Rajkumar and Councillor, Samad Baksh were also present. (Yannason Duncan).
